My Story

I have been working with glass as my chosen medium for over 20 years and I am as passionate about working with it now as I was when my Journey first began.

I started my exploration of glass at the university of Wolverhampton which introduced me to the multitude of possibilities of this super cooled liquid as a creative material and also gave me the opportunity to attend a coveted scholarship at the prestigious Pilchuck glass school in Seattle, founded by World famous glass artis Dale Chihuly.

This experience fuelled my passion and imagination beyond recognition, I was in too deep to leave this challenging career path now; not that this ever crossed my mind.

Pilchuck is a true mecca for anything glass, I thought I’d died and gone to heaven, I found my happy place.

After completing my degree at Wolverhampton, I sought to expand my technical skills further, working in various UK glass Studios assisting other accomplished glass makers whilst attending a professional development course in Stourbridge, the historical heart of English glass making.

My glass career began to emerge after securing a second scholarship working from the Red House Glass Cone in Wordsley. It was whilst here that I began to attend trade events displaying and selling my early work.

A lot has happened since then and my work has shifted; increasingly taking on a more sculptural approach.

I enjoy the contrasting qualities of organic form coupled with sharp (not literally) cold worked edges and angles to create abstract works that invite an audience to explore from varying viewpoints, an organic, geometric mix.

I am inspired by so many things. As a creative your eyes are always wide open, your mind excited by the new potential a spark of an idea or interest throws up.

My sculptural work to date has been and to a degree remains, a continued pursuit of technical skill and notion of aesthetics, I now feel eager to delve deeper still into my exploration through the added layer of a more personal narrative and experimental approach.

Another Journey beckons.
